Before leaving Colorado

Me and niece E on Mount Royal

Yesterday and today I got to do a couple of hikes, as I had hoped for but not really planned into the non-existing schedule of mine.
Yesterday it was only me, and this morning my niece and I left the house a little after 4 am to see the sun rise over the mountains.

Before sunrise

Let me say, it’s a bit rough to wake the body up by climbing uphill in the dark at 4.30 in the morning.

It was so worth it, though!

We got to wait a bit before we saw Miss Sunshine

And if the climb was a bit hard at times, it’s at the same time a great metaphor for life – sometimes we walk in the dark, only seeing what’s in reach of the headlight. As you continue walking, the light helps you see further and eventually the surroundings lightens up.

How the sun warms up both people and mountains

This was a great start of the day with many hours of traveling ahead of me.

Beautiful natural sculptures on Mount Royal

Yesterday I realized how good these three weeks in Colorado has been – every day I have done things that I like, and I’ve gotten to spend my time very freely.

Priority: less stress and more fun

Early morning to go to work

Yesterday we watched the sun set, Anders and I. A beautiful sunset and I told him that I just seconds earlier had found myself thinking ‘next weekend I am going to enjoy the spring more’. Instantly my inner correction was ‘no! Today, enjoy life, beauty, love and nature today. Don’t wait!’.

After that, we watched the movie Bucket List again. That is a good movie, and it also is a nice way to remember what really is important.

So, let’s take care of the little things, remember to make a quick (or long) stop to enjoy a beautiful view, to let ourselves taste the good food and drinks, give someone a hug and simply live!

Early Monday morning

Got up early this morning to take Lucky the dog for a walk outside the village. We left the house before sunrise and went looking for a spot to park the car and get to see the sun rise.

Well worth to get out of bed

Love driving on the lonely roads across the island,  most of them showing scenery we’ve never seen in any place before.

A few seconds of rest...

Most dogs love coming to new places, and Lucky is no exception. She runs around sniffing and wagging her tail like crazy.

Beautiful light on the way back

We’re expecting more rain and heavy winds again soon, and the clouds started to pile up on the way back home.
