Magical moments

This is real, though it looks fake

Had a lovely tour on the south-west part of Flores last night. One of those magical nights when the sea is almost still, no wind, nice temperature and well, the setting – nothing more to ask of that.

How the Atlantic looked like a polished dance floor with the sun shining among the clouds is a sight I’ll remember for ever. It was all so beautiful it’s impossible to take pictures that actually give a hint of the real thing. And yet everything on the pictures look so perfect I had to put a person in some of them to make it a bit more real…

It’s still rather calm and quiet here on the island, though the tourist season begun a few weeks ago – we’ve seen more and more rental cars and typical tourists (they’re easy to spot among the locals…).

We’ve been lucky to be here so early in the year, with quite warm and good weather (it’s gotten so much better in the past weeks) and almost everyplace we’ve gone for hiking and sightseeing we’ve been totally alone. That’s really something!

Now this is what I call a good Friday night.

Four weeks without Facebook

It’s actually been more than four weeks since I signed out and de-activated my Facebook-account as a test to see how it works out. Last week a friend of mine said she misses me on FB, and she wonders how it’s working for me.

Up till then I hadn’t really thought about it that much and it’s felt very natural to me not to watch what’s happening on Facebook daily.

Today, after having a Skype meeting with a couple of good friends, I came to think about this again and was surprised of still not missing being on FB like I used to. It feels kind of weird, since I have been on Facebook for over seven years, many times “visiting” FB-friends daily or even several times per day. Having conversations, getting input on things, seeing pictures and posting thoughts, photos or links.

For the moment I don’t miss it and haven’t thought much about it. Wonder if it’s easier to do this when not being around friends, or if it is that my habits and way of living have changed? I am on Instagram almost daily and like it a lot, but I did that before getting off FB too. You find me as wivankristina on Instagram.

So, the test of not being on FB will continue for a while longer. Or forever. We’ll see!

Melting snow on the ground

Wivan got challenged on Facebook to post three nature pictures per day, three days in a row.

Thought we should share them here too. It’s ‘snow week’ and we’ve had fresh snow more or less every day. Most of it has melted quickly but it keeps on coming new.

"Our" dogs are happy and like our long walks

Since we moved to a new house sit last weekend, we now take care of two sweet and fun dogs and the daily walks are part of our lifestyle.

Taking three pictures per day is not really a challenge to us where we live right now. It’s a beautiful place, the weather is nice and we enjoy being outdoors.

The dream board

Dreamboard (3)

For several years we’ve had a Dreamboard in our home. It’s a board or large paper where we’ve collected pictures and texts that inspires us in the direction we want to go, like things we’d like to get more of, experiences we want to share with others, places we’d like to go or wishes we have for the future.

It’s been fun cutting out pictures and head lines from magazines and newspapers, choosing photos of us in places or moments we really have enjoyed and would like to experience more of. We have made these boards together. One can of course make one each or several boards that are kept in different places like the bedroom, office, kitchen, living room etc.

Dreamboard (1)

In fact, we have had several boards and inspirational quotes pretty much all over the house. It’s been a good way to remind ourselves of our dreams and visions.

Last spring, when we got the house ready for sale, we took the big dreamboard down from the living room wall, and it’s been stored away since. A few weeks ago Wivan came to think of it again, and realized she’s put up several pictures of backpacks on that board. She already have several backpacks in different sizes, but it’s a nice feeling to thinking of backpack hikes or travels.

Dreamboard (2)

All of a sudden we find ourselves planning for a long trip/time away, only packing in backpacks. Let us be clear on that we really didn’t see this coming. Sure, when we decided to move to Spain we realized we’d get a summer/holiday setting lifestyle in the very place we’d be living. Like a permanent vacation center. But, this travelling thing we’re about to do now, that’s been a subconcious direction we just recently noticed.

On the board we’ve also had many pictures of inspiring places we’d like to go. Holiday resorts, beaches, sunshine, beautiful dishes of food – and now we’re about to spend this coming winter in southern parts of Europe. Maybe not at holiday resorts, but with moments by the ocean for sure, in new places and with new inspiring dishes on the meny.

Here’s a wikiHow-article on how to make your own dreamboard.

And here’s a fun site, DreamItAlive, where you can share your dreams with others, find like minded people and even start crowd funding to reach your dreams.

Do you have any dreams you want to share with us? Please do, we’d love to hear about your visions and future projects and maybe we could help or support you in some way.
